MYERS BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR (MBTI)

The MBTI is a self-administered self-scored questionnaire which gives you information about yourself in four different areas.

The first area is whether you are extroverted or introverted. The second gives you information on how you observe things, and what you see as important. The third area gives you information on how you approach decision-making. The fourth shows you how you plan and organise your work and your life.

The MBTI is a brilliantly useful instrument.

It is the most used, the most researched and  the most tested style indicator in the world.

At the end of an MBTI seminar, participants will have:-

  • discovered their strengths and areas ripe for improvement

  • identified differences or similarities between themselves & peers or staff.

  • Identified what action they can take to improve results.

And they will have fun doing it!

The beautiful thing about the MBTI is that no one person's approach is better than another, and there is no MBTI profile which nominates you as, for example, a better manager than others - or a better anything else for that matter!

What the MBTI does do is identify your strengths and preferences and approaches, and those of others, and demonstrate that all approaches are valid, whether they are similar to yours or not. In fact, studies demonstrate time and again that work teams or groups with a multiplicity of approaches tend to make better decisions than those who are all similar in their approach.

The MBTI has many applications. It can be used as a stand alone workshop, simply to give people information about their own and others' approaches, or it can be used as an integral part of other workshops. Some of the workshops that we use it in are People Management workshops and Teambuilding workshops. We also refer to its implications in Time Management workshops, Performance Management workshops and Staff Selection workshops if participants have already completed an MBTI questionnaire.
